[purple squares in the community]

Beginning life as perhaps the world's first free studio, Purple Squares continues to this day to make a strong and important contribution to the local community. Free demo sessions are still provided by the studio, and we now have a volunteer programme for budding producers and engineers.

If you're an artist who's desperate to record, but just doesn't have the funds to be able to afford a normal studio session, we can help! Our free demo sessions on Saturdays will provide the perfect solution to help you get your music recorded and out there.

More and more people these days are looking to get into production or studio engineering, and whilst there's now a plethora of courses you can do, it's still pretty hard to find real-world experience. We take a number of volunteers each year to help staff our free sessions, and in the process, give them plenty of studio training and experience of recording in a commercial environment.

Why do all this?

Purple Squares is just one of many outreach projects run by Shirley Parish Church, looking to make a positive contribution to the community in Southampton. All the people who run Purple Squares belong to a local church and care passionately about communicating the church's message in relevant and approachable ways.
